Lorraine Edwards Brings Creativity and Connection to Wellness

Through Intertwined Yoga and Wellness Retreats, Lorraine Edwards is developing destination retreats, coaching, classes, and workshops centered on yoga, breathwork, meditation, and the connection among mind, body, and soul.

Portrait of Lorraine Edwards, owner of Intertwined Yoga and Wellness Retreats

For Lorraine Edwards, wellness is not a single practice or destination. It is a process of reconnecting with a sense of self that can become difficult to hear amid demanding schedules and everyday responsibilities. As the owner of Intertwined Yoga and Wellness Retreats in Calgary, Alberta, she is building experiences intended to create room for that reconnection through movement, reflection, and practical support.

Intertwined specializes in international destination-based yoga and wellness retreats. Its planned experiences are designed around distinct interests, including spirituality, adventure, exploration, and relaxation. While the emphasis may change from one retreat to another, the underlying framework remains consistent: attention to the relationship among mind, body, and soul through yoga, breathwork, meditation, and other specialized modalities.

Different retreats, a shared foundation

The retreat model reflects an understanding that people do not all arrive at wellness in the same way. One participant may be drawn to quiet reflection, while another may connect more readily through activity or discovery. By curating retreats for specific audiences, Intertwined aims to offer several entry points without losing sight of its central purpose.

Lorraine plans for the company to host four or five different retreats annually. The format gives each experience its own identity while allowing the broader program to remain anchored in reconnection. Rather than presenting a retreat as an isolated pause from ordinary life, her approach also emphasizes coaching, integration, and lifestyle changes that participants can consider beyond the retreat setting.

That wider perspective extends to Intertwined’s services outside destination experiences. The company offers one-on-one coaching programs, classes, and workshops for women and men, available both in person and online. Together, these formats create options for people with different schedules, locations, and preferences. They also support Lorraine’s goal of helping individuals rediscover their inner sense of self and work toward becoming a stronger version of themselves.

A creative background shapes the next chapter

Lorraine’s route into wellness has crossed several industries. She spent years working as a set decorator in the motion picture industry and has also worked in interior decorating, special-event decorating, and floral design through her former company, Decor Essentials. She continues to stay connected with these creative interests and is currently serving as a producer’s representative on a feature film seeking production.

Those roles required attention to atmosphere, composition, and the ways individual elements can contribute to a cohesive experience. Although wellness retreats serve a different purpose, Lorraine’s design background provides relevant context for her interest in carefully curated environments. Her work brings together creative planning and participant-centered programming rather than treating a retreat as a collection of disconnected activities.

Her professional experience also includes a markedly different field. Lorraine was a part owner of an emergency response company serving the oil and gas sector, where she was responsible for administration. The company was sold in 2022. That chapter added operational and administrative experience to a career already shaped by creative work.

Connecting varied experience with a clear purpose

Yoga, meditation, and breathwork now form the core of Lorraine’s specialization. She is affiliated with Yoga Alliance and has completed training as an instructor in High Impact Healer Breathwork Techniques. The training included trauma-informed facilitation principles, ethical practice, participant safety, informed consent, and nervous-system awareness.

Alongside her work with Intertwined, Lorraine is writing two illustrated children’s books. The projects are another expression of the creative interests that have remained present across her career, even as her professional responsibilities have changed.

What connects these varied chapters is not a conventional progression from one title to the next. It is Lorraine’s continuing interest in creating thoughtful experiences, coordinating many moving parts, and helping ideas take shape. Intertwined Yoga and Wellness Retreats brings those abilities into a new setting focused on personal connection and well-being.

As Lorraine develops the company’s retreat calendar and broader programming, her focus remains on meeting people at different points in their wellness journeys. Whether through an international retreat, an online session, a class, or individual coaching, Intertwined is being shaped as a space where movement, breath, reflection, and integration can work together.
