Dolly’s entrepreneurial journey began with her desire to build a career that would allow her to be present for her son. After welcoming him in 2018, she found balancing a full-time corporate position with new motherhood increasingly difficult. She wanted to continue applying her financial experience while gaining the flexibility to participate more fully in the meaningful moments of his childhood.
After leaving her corporate career in November 2018, Dolly spent time reflecting on her family’s future and researching work-from-home opportunities. Virtual bookkeeping emerged as a practical way to combine flexibility with work she genuinely enjoyed. She subsequently enrolled in a comprehensive program covering advanced bookkeeping and the development of a virtual bookkeeping business.
Combining that training with her corporate accounting background, Dolly founded Bookkeeping Towne in 2019. Her initial goal was to help small-business owners understand their financial position and use that knowledge to make better-informed decisions. As the company developed, she became particularly drawn to food and hospitality entrepreneurs managing demanding operations while serving their communities.
In 2024, Dolly rebranded the company as Á La Carte Business Advisors to reflect its specialization in food-based businesses and its evolution beyond transaction-focused bookkeeping. Today, she works with owners to simplify financial information, strengthen cash flow, evaluate profitability, and understand their bottom line. Her approach positions accurate bookkeeping as a foundation for practical strategy and proactive business decisions.
Before entrepreneurship, Dolly built more than 20 years of experience across accounting, payroll tax, bookkeeping, and financial operations. Her career included customer service and lending-related work at Fleet Bank, accounts receivable at New England Gas Company, and accounts payable and payroll tax responsibilities at CVS Pharmacy. She also prepared taxes part time with Liberty Tax and later worked as a payroll tax analyst at FM Global.
Dolly is a Certified Professional Bookkeeper, Certified Payroll Professional, and QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, and she has experience using QuickBooks Online and Xero. Her professional affiliations include the Association of Financial Professionals and Hospitality Technology and Financial Professionals. She was also named a 2024 Local Business Person of the Year.
Now a newly divorced mother, business owner, and homeowner, Dolly continues to shape her company around the family priorities that originally inspired it. She values being able to support her son, enjoy motherhood, manage her responsibilities, and plan time for meaningful family experiences.
