Nathalie Marc-Charles Turns Self-Awareness Into Intentional Career Action
Through Uplift Your Career, Nathalie Marc-Charles combines behavioral insight, extensive human resources experience, and practical coaching to help professionals navigate career decisions and leadership growth.
For Nathalie Marc-Charles, understanding how people behave at work is only the beginning. The larger question is how they can use that knowledge to make thoughtful decisions about their careers, leadership, and lives.
That question sits at the center of her work through Uplift Your Career. As an executive and leadership coach, Certified Birkman Consultant, and career strategist, Nathalie helps professionals examine their strengths, needs, environments, and goals. Her approach draws on more than 15 years in human resources and organizational roles, along with consulting and coaching experience across different regions.
A foundation in people and organizations
Nathalie’s early career gave her a close view of the forces shaping workplace experiences. Her background includes HR management at Viacom, now Paramount, whose brands include MTV, Nickelodeon, and Comedy Central, as well as experience at AIG. She also consulted with organizations in Haiti and the United States, supporting their efforts to address HR challenges and strengthen people practices.
Across those roles, she developed experience in workplace dynamics, talent development, leadership, and organizational growth. Just as importantly, the work deepened a longstanding curiosity about what motivates people, how they present themselves professionally, and what conditions allow them to thrive.
A major transition came in 2014, when Nathalie returned to Haiti, her country of origin, following the death of her mother. She knew she did not want to resume a traditional, full-time HR position. Existing professional relationships nevertheless brought consulting opportunities, creating a way for her to apply her experience through a more flexible model.
Discovering a framework for deeper insight
A few years later, Nathalie encountered the Birkman Method, a behavioral assessment framework. Completing the assessment gave her a new perspective on her own behavioral patterns, underlying needs, strengths, and responses to stress. It also helped her identify conditions that supported her ability to work and live well.
The experience prompted her to consider how similar insight could serve others. She became a Certified Birkman Consultant in 2018 and initially shared the framework with relatives and friends. They found it useful for understanding themselves, considering career options, and approaching professional development.
Their responses also revealed a practical challenge. Greater self-awareness could explain a pattern or need, but people still wanted to know what to do with that information. They were looking for ways to apply the insights to real career and life decisions. Addressing that gap became a natural entry point into coaching.
Moving from assessment to action
What began as Birkman debriefs expanded into career and leadership coaching. Nathalie started working with clients in Haiti and partnered with a United States-based organization to coach women already in leadership positions or preparing to enter them. In this work, several parts of her background converged: practical HR knowledge, an interest in behavioral science, and an ability to translate reflection into next steps.
After relocating with her family to the United States in 2021, she continued developing her practice. Today, she supports professionals facing career crossroads, building leadership capabilities, or considering what should come next. She also works with an organization that helps college students prepare for career and leadership success.
The Birkman Method remains a foundation of her practice, but her work does not end with assessment results. She combines behavioral insight with coaching and organizational experience, encouraging clients to consider whether their work environment, professional direction, and individual needs are aligned. Her aim is to help people move from recognition to intentional action rather than treating self-knowledge as an endpoint.
Designing a career around a life
Nathalie has coached more than 300 clients across the Caribbean, Latin America, North America, and Europe. That reach reflects a practice shaped by experience across corporate, consulting, and cross-cultural settings.
Her perspective also extends beyond paid work. Nathalie is a mother of three boys and serves on the Board of Directors of OurSOIL, an organization working to transform waste into resources in Haiti. These dimensions of her life reinforce a central principle in her coaching: a career should support the life a person wants to build.
Her own path illustrates that principle. Rather than leaving her HR experience behind, Nathalie adapted it into work better aligned with her interests and circumstances. Now she helps others undertake a similar process—understanding themselves more clearly, recognizing what they need to thrive, and making career choices connected to both purpose and everyday life.
