Maria Ní Mhurchú is a published author, poet, playwright, and scriptwriter with more than 30 years of experience bringing stories to life through poetry, plays, scripts, content, and personal writing. Based in Ireland, she has built a diverse and accomplished literary career defined by her passion for language, storytelling, and creative expression.
An award-winning poet and playwright, Maria writes primarily in Irish and has developed an impressive body of work across literature, theatre, television, and film. Her published books include Tomás na bPúcaí, Duilleoga Draíochta, and Caite le Chéile, while her fourth book, Startled By You, drew upon her personal life experiences. Her work has earned recognition within Ireland’s literary community, including an Oireachtas Literary Award for her poetry collection Duilleoga Draíochta.
Maria’s creative talents also extend to drama and screenwriting. She has written plays including Imithe le Gealaigh and Tomás na bPúcaí, and her writing has been associated with Irish-language television, including scriptwriting for the TG4 series Ros na Rún. Her career has also included work in television, stage, and radio, demonstrating her versatility as a storyteller across multiple creative platforms.
