The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Dr. Yajaira Guzman

Dr. Guzman provides compassionate and comprehensive care to infants, children, and adolescents at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, where she is known for her patient-centered approach and unwavering dedication to improving the health and well-being of families. Grounded in preventive medicine and evidence-based practice, she focuses on fostering long-term relationships with patients and empowering parents with the knowledge and support necessary to promote healthy childhood development.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Guzman serves as an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Residency Program of Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine in alliance with Saint Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, where she mentors and trains the next generation of pediatric physicians. Through her role in graduate medical education, she contributes to shaping future leaders in pediatric medicine while advancing the standards of compassionate and high-quality care.
Dr. Guzman’s professional interests include preventive pediatric care, well-child examinations, childhood immunizations, developmental screening, and the management of both acute and chronic pediatric conditions. She is particularly passionate about parental education and believes that empowering families with knowledge is essential to supporting children’s long-term physical and emotional health.
Her commitment to service extends far beyond the hospital walls. Dr. Guzman has volunteered during catastrophic natural disasters, including Hurricane Maria, dedicating her time and medical expertise to assist affected communities and support rebuilding efforts during times of crisis.
Equally devoted to youth mentorship, Dr. Guzman works closely with Basketball Club Fraigcomar, supporting community children and adolescents through sports and leadership development. Through this involvement, she helps young people pursue athletic achievement while encouraging discipline, resilience, and positive life choices that keep them focused on healthy futures and away from drugs and unsafe environments.
