The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Pearlyn Henry-Burrell
Dr. Pearlyn Henry-Burrell is a qualified and experienced educator who has over 20 years of experience in teaching and practicum supervision. Dr. Henry- Burrell currently works an Early Childhood Care and Education Officer with the Early Childhood Care and Education Unit, in the Ministry of Education. She also serves as a part-time Early Childhood lecturer and practicum supervisor with the University of the West Indies Open Campus, Cayman Islands. She previously served as a Special Education Coordinator (SENCO) for two Primary Schools. Prior to assuming the role of a SENCO, Dr. Henry-Burrell served as a Kindergarten and Reception Class teacher and holds a Teaching Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Shortwood Teachers’ College, MSc. in Inclusive Special Education from Roehampton University, an MSc. in Early Childhood Studies and a Doctorate in Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction from Walden University.
Dr. Henry-Burrell has extensive practice in Early Childhood Education and is the immediate past president of the Cayman Islands Early Childhood Association. She is a mentor and teacher trainer for aspiring and in service Early Childhood Practitioners. Dr. Henry-Burrell initiated and supported numerous community projects that support young children and their families. Dr. Henry-Burrell is an international speaker who presented on key matters pertaining to early Literacy and supporting children with special education needs. Additionally, she mentors and supports ladies through an online programme known as the Global Prayer Ladies Supper Club.
As a leader, she is passionate about making a difference in the field. Pearlyn holds her Doctorate degree in Curriculum Assessment and Instruction from Walden University and is a member of Cayman Island Early Childhood Association. Moving forward, she hopes to open an early childhood training institute for teachers to train, study and research.
In her spare time, Pearlyn enjoys traveling and singing.
