The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Kayla Black

Kayla Black is Executive Director of the American Prohibition Museum, where she oversees various aspects of curation, interpretation, operational design and development, technology design and development, hiring and employee development, and special events management, and outreach.

Her tenure as the Director of the American Prohibition Museum began quite a while before the official opening of the space, as she had the unique pleasure of being able to develop the space from the initial outset of construction and design in an empty second floor warehouse through until the present. This included various aspects of curation, interpretation, operational design and development, technology design and website development, hiring and SOPs, license obtainment, and employee development.

In addition to her role as Executive Director of the American Prohibition Museum, Kayla is on the Axillary Board of Directors for the Savannah Repertory Theatre, and is a Graduate Program Mentor at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.

After opening in May of 2017, Kayla has led the American Prohibition Museum and Congress Street Up (the Speakeasy inside of the museum) through several successful years of operation, writing and maintaining budgets and budgetary controls. She has been involved in developing and supporting groups, events, charters, students, Girl Scouts, weddings, and bar programs. Kayla has integrated moral boosting and site healthy programs, worked as a member of the Coastal Museum Association, created partnerships with various community businesses, and maintained a high level of guest service throughout.
