Sandy Hein is a seasoned Negotiation Instructor and Coach at The Black Swan Group, bringing her expertise and passion for teaching to the forefront. Joining the company in December 2011, Sandy transitioned to a full-time role in July 2020, dedicating herself to the art and science of negotiation. Sandy's professional journey commenced as a police officer in Alexandria, Virginia, where she served for an impressive 23 years. During this time, she wore various hats, including a remarkable 10-year tenure as a hostage negotiator. Her commitment to public service extended to her role as a certified instructor with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and a valuable member of the training faculty of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance. Retiring from law enforcement in 2012, Sandy continued her dedication to education. She ventured into teaching criminal justice to high school students, authored books, and emerged as a sought-after trainer for law enforcement agents across the country. Her training expertise covers critical areas such as sexual violence, crisis intervention, and hostage negotiations. In her role at The Black Swan Group, Sandy aligns her professional journey with her passion for teaching. She finds fulfillment in connecting with clients on a personal level, employing a conversational approach to impart the valuable lessons of The Black Swan Method™.
