Sandra Cooley is an inspirational leader with over 20 years’ experience with a reputation for instilling clarity and fidelity in performance team driven environments. She currently serves in the public sector with Department of Homeland Security for a federal department responsible for delivering grants and federal assistance to individuals, states, and Tribal Nations throughout the country. In her role, she directs large-scale operations including Human Capital Management activities (full cycle), Advisory functions including legal, Disputes, Equal Rights, and Continuous Improvement Program management activities. She also coordinates high-profile visits to field events including White House, Members of Congress and Senior Federal Officials.
In the last 13 years with DHS, Ms. Cooley has Ms. Cooley served as a member of the Field Leadership Cadre as Chief of Staff – Type 1 (a designation only held by two people in the nation until recently). She has also served on 13 Level 1 and 2 events and is considered as one of the most sought-after field leaders.
On October 1, 2012, Ms. Cooley was tapped by the Administrator to oversee the implementation of several new Agency initiatives. Her many talents and skills have afforded other delegations where she has served in senior field roles including Deputy Federal Coordinating Officer, Special Assistant to the Federal Coordinating Officer, Acting Federal Disaster Recovery Officer, as well as special assignments for Agency initiatives. She has been recruited to coach and mentor individuals and teams, coordinate high profile initiatives, and facilitate and lead special projects.
Ms. Cooley attributes hard work, passion for what she does and the drive to create resilient results as key to her success. She values creative and divergent thinking, and integrity. She is empathetic and compassionate to individual contributions to an organization’s goals.
