Biography

I'm Manjushree Raghwani, a Data Scientist at United Health Services (UHS) in New York, and my career is proof that it's never too late to reinvent yourself — and that the most powerful insights come from people who've walked more than one path to get where they are. I began my career in commerce, earning a Bachelor's degree in Banking & Insurance from the University of Mumbai's Mulund College of Commerce. From there, I built a career across banking operations and business analytics in India — starting at ICICI Bank, where I helped reduce prime rejection blocks from 68% to 35% by implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies. I went on to take on analyst and project management roles at Aptech Limited, leading teams, building pricing strategies, to drive business growth. At QualityKiosk Technologies, I stepped into HR analytics and PMO leadership, delivering projects at a 90% on-time completion rate and building a predictive attrition model with 90% accuracy. But I wanted more. At 37 years old, I made the boldest decision of my career: I left behind a comfortable, established path and went back to school — pivoting from commerce into STEM. I earned a Master of Science in Data Analytics from Binghamton University, State University of New York. That decision wasn't easy, but it was mine, and it changed everything. It taught me that career reinvention isn't about starting over — it's about bringing everything you've already learned into a new arena and making it work harder for you. That pivot led me to healthcare data science, and today I get to do work that genuinely matters. At UHS, I analyze historical patient data — including specific medical and substance-related cases — to forecast Emergency Department demand and optimize exam room utilization. I'm also building predictive models for our Transitions of Care Pharmacy program, helping identify at-risk patients so we can reduce hospital readmissions and make sure people get the medications they need, when they need them. Beyond my own projects, I support residents, pharmacists, and nursing research initiatives by enabling their work with data, information, and insights drawn from patient history — helping our broader clinical community build better processes and drive improved quality of care. Before this role, I spent nearly two years as a Business Intelligence Developer II at UHS, where I built and automated KPI dashboards using SQL and Tableau that saved the organization over $100,000 annually. I modernized reporting processes and contributed to our 2024 PCMH certification project — work that reminded me every day that good data, presented well, can change how an entire organization operates. I've built my technical foundation across SQL, Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, and machine learning, and I hold certifications spanning SAS Viya, data visualization, and NoSQL concepts. But the toolkit is only half the story — what drives me is translating numbers into decisions that improve people's lives, whether that's a hospital's ability to serve patients faster or a struggling franchise finding its way back to profitability. I also believe in paying it forward. I've had the privilege of guest lecturing at Binghamton University's Data Analytics Master's program, sharing real-world lessons about data delivery timelines and the challenges of migrating visualization systems — the kind of hard-won knowledge you only get by doing the work, not just studying it. My career has been recognized along the way, including the "QK Emerging Leader Award" for my contributions to data analysis and for building a PMO function for HR from the ground up. But the recognition I value most is simpler: proof that a commerce graduate can become a data scientist, that a career can be rebuilt at any age, and that curiosity and grit will always find a way forward. I'm still building. And I believe the best insight — and the best chapter — is always the next one.
