Biography
Juanita Vratsanos is an Industrial Engineer, entrepreneur, and the Founder and CEO of Torpora Coffee, a woman-owned specialty coffee business based on Long Island, New York. Originally from Ibagué, Tolima, Colombia, she came to the United States a decade ago in search of better opportunities and the chance to build a brighter future through hard work. Juanita began her journey in the United States as a live-in nanny before entering the hospitality industry as a diner host. Through dedication, initiative, and a commitment to excellence, she advanced from host to server, lead server, and management positions. She became a trusted member of the leadership team and later served as the full-time manager of Brownstones Coffee for three years. While developing her career in hospitality, Juanita was simultaneously building Torpora Coffee and expanding her knowledge of the coffee industry through independent study, extensive research, and coffee courses. What began as a personal vision has grown into a mobile coffee business offering organic Colombian specialty coffee, handcrafted beverages, and espresso bar experiences at markets, weddings, private celebrations, and community events throughout Long Island. Today, Juanita dedicates herself fully to Torpora Coffee. Her mission is to share the richness of Colombian coffee and her culture while creating meaningful connections within the community. She aspires to grow Torpora Coffee into a successful company that creates opportunities, supports others, and makes a positive impact through every cup.
