Jennifer Larios Mejia is a Team/Technical Lead in Technology at BDO Canada, with a professional career spanning data engineering, cloud technologies, business intelligence, and enterprise data transformation. Originally from Colombia and now based in Canada, Jennifer has built an international career helping organizations turn complex data challenges into practical and scalable technology solutions. Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Universidad del Norte, a postgraduate specialization in Database Development from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, and a Master’s degree in Big Data and Business Intelligence from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain. Her academic background reflects a long-standing commitment to data and technology that has continued throughout her professional career. Jennifer began her career working with information systems, databases, and data quality initiatives, including projects supporting public health programs in Colombia. As her career evolved, she moved progressively into business intelligence, data integration, database development, and modern cloud data engineering. Her professional experience spans several industries, including public health, energy, aviation, financial services, and professional consulting. This exposure has given her the opportunity to work with different business environments and understand how technology and data must adapt to the needs of each organization. At BDO Canada, Jennifer has contributed to complex data and technology initiatives involving cloud data platforms, system integrations, data pipelines, data modelling, APIs, analytics, and enterprise reporting. Her technical experience includes Snowflake, Azure, dbt, Workato, Airflow, Python, SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric. Her career at BDO has also evolved from hands-on technical delivery into broader technical and team leadership. In her current role as Team/Technical Lead, Jennifer mentors developers, supports solution design and project estimation, oversees technical delivery across projects, collaborates directly with clients and business stakeholders, and helps teams make architectural and implementation decisions. She focuses not only on delivering solutions, but also on helping teams work effectively, identify risks early, and make sound technical decisions. Jennifer is particularly passionate about bridging the gap between technology and business. She believes successful data initiatives require more than technical expertise—they require understanding the business problem, asking the right questions, communicating clearly, and designing solutions that are practical and sustainable. Continuous learning has been a defining part of Jennifer’s professional journey. She continues to deepen her expertise in Snowflake, cloud data architecture, data engineering, software development practices, and artificial intelligence, while strengthening her capabilities in leadership, mentoring, technical communication, and strategic decision-making.
