Heidy Sykes is an accounting and finance professional with over 26 years of experience in financial management, accounting operations, financial reporting, and business administration. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Heidy currently serves as Chief Accountant at Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation, Inc., where she manages essential accounting functions, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, invoicing, audit preparation, and financial support for research investigators. Her work focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, improving accounting processes, and supporting effective financial oversight. Throughout her career, Heidy has demonstrated a commitment to leadership, mentorship, and continuous improvement. One of her professional accomplishments includes leading the transition to paperless reconciliation procedures, helping modernize accounting workflows and strengthen financial documentation. She also provides guidance and training to accounting staff, supporting their professional growth and development. Driven by her passion for helping others succeed, Heidy co-founded H & J Bookkeeping, LLC, a woman-owned, family-operated bookkeeping company, alongside her sister. Their business provides remote bookkeeping services to small business owners, including monthly bookkeeping, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and cleanup services. Through H & J Bookkeeping, Heidy aims to make professional bookkeeping more accessible to entrepreneurs who may not have the resources for an in-house accounting department. She believes that organized financial records and clear reporting empower business owners to make confident decisions and build sustainable businesses.
