Angela DeBerry

Biography

Angela DeBerry is a Program & Participant Success Intern at The Glow Forward Foundation, specializing in nonprofit health care, human services, organizational psychology, program evaluation, and participant-centered systems. Drawing on nearly three decades of direct-care and nonprofit human-services experience, she focuses on improving the organizational practices that shape outcomes for both service recipients and employees. Angela began her career as a certified nursing assistant supporting people with developmental disabilities, complex medical needs, and behavioral health challenges. Her frontline work gave her a practical understanding of how leadership, staff training, communication, and organizational decisions affect independence, quality of life, and service delivery. She now brings that perspective to research, organizational improvement, and the development of practical tools for community-serving nonprofits. At The Glow Forward Foundation, Angela develops participant and mentor surveys, organizes data for analysis, creates community resource guides, and builds tools for individualized goal setting and follow-up. Her work helps establish processes for identifying participant needs, tracking progress, incorporating feedback, and strengthening program delivery. Her areas of practice include survey design, data preparation, outcome measurement, process development, resource coordination, and participant-centered planning. Angela also serves as Co-Chair of NAMI Western Maryland, where she supports the development of a regional network for mental health education, support, advocacy, and stigma reduction across Washington, Allegany, and Garrett counties. Her responsibilities include organizational planning, community-needs research, partnership development, outreach, resource development, and strategic communication. She has been a trained mental health advocate with NAMI Maryland since 2024. Angela is pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Baltimore. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Science with a focus in Social Work Support Administration and a minor in Leadership Studies from Frostburg State University in 2007. She also holds an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies with a visual arts focus and an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services Technician with a concentration in substance abuse from Hagerstown Community College. Her honors include the University of Baltimore’s Beth Mizell Grit Award in 2024. In 2025, she was a member of Team True Score Solutions, which placed second in the Personnel Testing Council of Metropolitan Washington Graduate Student Consulting Challenge, sponsored by HumRRO. She contributed executive writing, presentation development, and delivery to the team’s evidence-based software engineer selection proposal. Her leadership and campus service includes roles as executive board secretary of the University of Baltimore’s Nonprofit Management and Social Entrepreneurship Student Organization and campus ambassador for the American Psychological Association. She previously served as executive board secretary of the university’s National Society of Leadership and Success chapter. Her professional development includes advanced and foundational leadership certifications, NAMI advocacy and workplace mental health training, human-subjects research training, and executive leadership study. Across her work, Angela combines frontline insight, research, empathy, and organizational analysis to help nonprofits understand needs, support their teams, and evaluate the impact of their programs.
