Courtney Bulat, founder of BulatProof Bookkeeping, is a resilient entrepreneur and a dedicated bookkeeping professional whose journey is marked by perseverance, adaptability, and personal transformation. With a background in payroll administration from CDI College, where she graduated with honors, Courtney combines her technical expertise with an unwavering commitment to her clients. A member of the Payroll Association, she holds her Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification and continues to build her skills as she grows her business.

Courtney’s career path has been anything but ordinary. She has worked in a variety of roles across small and large companies, always embracing new learning opportunities and developing the versatility that now defines her approach. Her life has been marked by personal challenges, including raising her children alone for over 12 years, overcoming brain surgery in 2020 for Chiari Malformation, and achieving sobriety after a long struggle with addiction. She has been in recovery for nearly four years, and her journey has inspired her to help others find strength and resilience within themselves.

In 2024, Courtney began ADHD treatment, which allowed her to achieve greater mental clarity and further fueled her drive to build her own business. Early Life and Education

Born in 1976 in Surrey, British Columbia, Kim Kandola moved to the United Kingdom at the age of one and grew up in Scotland. Raised in a family of entrepreneurs, she was immersed in the family’s retail business from a young age, learning firsthand the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. Kim pursued a degree in Business Management from Paisley University, graduating in 1996, and continued her studies in Human Resources and Accounting to deepen her skills. Her journey led her back to Canada in 1998 when she married her husband, who was residing there.

Career Journey

New to the Canadian business landscape, Kim began her career with an insurance company in Vancouver. However, she soon recognized that her true passion lay elsewhere. This realization inspired her to venture into business ownership, leading her to acquire an Imperial Oil franchise. Despite limited growth prospects in this field, Kim found her stride when she joined the Tim Hortons franchise group in 2008. Through hard work, dedication, and strategic vision, she rapidly expanded her portfolio, opening multiple locations across British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Northern BC. Her entrepreneurial spirit and success were acknowledged in 2022, when she joined Firehouse Subs as a multi-unit operator, further expanding her influence in the food and hospitality industry.

Community Engagement

Deeply committed to giving back, Kim has championed various community engagement initiatives. She maintains strong ties with local communities, actively supporting First Responders and contributing to public safety by providing grants for essential, life-saving equipment to hospitals, police departments, and fire halls.
