The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Heather Rodacker

Heather Rodacker, an end-of-life doula, community support professional, and founder of Guidance in Every Season in Grande Prairie, Alberta, provides non-medical support to individuals and families navigating advanced illness, end-of-life planning, grief, and remembrance. Drawing on more than two decades of professional experience, she offers companionship, practical assistance, advance care planning conversations, legacy projects, caregiver relief, and bedside presence.

Through Guidance in Every Season, Heather meets people where they are, approaching each person and family with patience, understanding, and respect for their choices. Her work is intended to complement, rather than replace, medical care by addressing everyday needs and creating space for comfort, connection, reflection, and meaningful conversation during vulnerable transitions.

Heather’s services include elder companionship and practical support that can help individuals remain connected to their routines, interests, and personal priorities. She also provides relief for caregivers, recognizing that family members and other care partners may benefit from dependable companionship for their loved one while they rest or attend to other responsibilities. At the bedside, she offers a calm, attentive presence shaped by each person’s wishes, beliefs, and traditions.

Legacy work is another important part of Heather’s practice. She supports individuals who want to preserve stories, memories, messages, or other meaningful reflections for the people important to them. Her advance care planning conversations similarly encourage individuals and families to consider preferences, identify priorities, and discuss difficult subjects with greater openness before urgent decisions arise.

Heather holds a two-year Social Work diploma and completed her end-of-life doula training in June 2026. She is also completing grief educator training with David Kessler, expanding the knowledge she brings to conversations about bereavement and loss. Her additional educational background includes mental health first aid, suicide prevention and intervention, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and compassionate-care training.

Before establishing Guidance in Every Season, Heather developed a varied professional background across health care and community support settings. She has more than two decades of hospital experience, with a specialization in medical device and endoscopic reprocessing. Her career has also included work in funeral service, recreational support, and cancer-support programming, giving her experience with people facing illness, change, grief, and practical care needs.

Professional education and personal experiences with grief and loss have both influenced Heather’s approach. She believes people deserve to feel safe, heard, respected, and supported throughout life’s most vulnerable seasons. Her work emphasizes nonjudgmental guidance while recognizing that every individual and family has a distinct understanding of comfort, dignity, remembrance, and connection.

Heather has also published books and resources designed to encourage comfort, connection, and meaningful conversations. As she continues developing Guidance in Every Season and completing her grief educator training, she plans to integrate her experience, education, and written resources into accessible support for individuals, elders, caregivers, and families in the Grande Prairie community.

WWA members are invited to connect with Heather to exchange professional insights and learn more about her work in end-of-life and community support.
