The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Tonya McKown MSHA ARRT R CT CPC CEDC CRAC

Tonya McKown MSHA ARRT R CT CPC CEDC CRAC, Director of Operations at Wilson Health, brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience and a background in Medical Imaging to her work within an independent rural health system. Her professional focus centers on supporting care teams, strengthening community trust, and keeping patients at the heart of operational decisions. These priorities shape her approach to leadership as healthcare practices and technologies continue to evolve.

For Tonya, patient-centered leadership begins with remembering why she chose a career in healthcare. She considers the needs of patients an essential guide to decision-making, rather than a separate consideration from the work of managing operations. Her commitment to creating an environment where team members can thrive sits alongside her goal of helping patients receive the highest quality of care.

Working within an independent rural health system gives community relationships particular importance in her professional outlook. Tonya views trust as fundamental to the system’s mission and believes that a dependable healthcare organization must demonstrate a commitment to compassionate care. Her emphasis on teamwork and continuous improvement reflects the connection she draws between the way an organization works and the community’s ability to rely on it.

Her Medical Imaging background provides a foundation for navigating the changes and advancements shaping healthcare. That experience informs her interest in how new approaches can support clinical work while preserving attention to the people receiving care. As Director of Operations, she brings this perspective to a leadership philosophy that values both the professionals delivering services and the patients those services are intended to benefit.

Artificial intelligence is an area Tonya is watching with an open mind, particularly as its role expands across Medical Imaging and Cardiovascular services. She recognizes opportunities for AI to enhance clinical workflows, support healthcare professionals, and improve the patient experience. Her submitted perspective emphasizes the potential of these developments, without presenting them as completed implementations or outcomes at Wilson Health.

Looking ahead, Tonya is interested in how AI will continue to evolve and contribute to Imaging and Cardiovascular patient care. Her outlook places technological change within her broader commitment to healthcare: advancements matter in relation to the people providing care and those receiving it. This forward-looking interest remains grounded in her established emphasis on compassionate service, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Tonya’s educational background includes study in healthcare administration at the University of St. Francis. Across more than three decades in the field, her stated priorities have remained consistent: supporting those who provide care, building trust within the communities served, and ensuring that patients remain central to the work. Her current role brings those priorities together in the operational setting of rural healthcare.

WWA members are invited to connect with Tonya to exchange perspectives on patient-centered leadership, rural healthcare, and the evolving role of technology in care delivery.
