For a small or medium-sized business, important decisions often depend on two practical questions: What needs to happen next, and what does the financial picture actually show? Jody Bitzer is building a consulting practice around helping business owners approach both questions with greater structure and clarity.

Drawing on a career in corporate IT project management, Jody is branching out independently through Jody Bitzer Consulting. The developing practice brings together project management and bookkeeping, with CFO financial advisory services expected to follow soon. It is a combination shaped by a consistent professional focus: organizing complex information, identifying risks and connecting day-to-day work with broader business goals.

Extending a Career in Enterprise Technology

Jody’s background includes more than 30 years of enterprise technology delivery experience, including more than 11 years in banking and financial services. As a senior IT project and program manager, Jody has worked in an environment where planning, coordination and careful execution are central to moving initiatives forward.

That experience now provides the foundation for an expanded form of business support. Project management remains part of the offering, but it sits alongside bookkeeping and a planned move into CFO financial advisory work. Rather than treating these as disconnected services, Jody sees an opportunity to apply established habits of organization and risk awareness to the financial and operational needs of smaller companies.

The transition also reflects a change in setting. Corporate technology programs commonly involve formal processes, multiple participants and defined reporting expectations. Smaller businesses may have equally important decisions to make, even when they do not have the same internal resources or specialized roles. Independent consulting creates room to adapt disciplined methods to each company’s actual circumstances.

Making Financial Information More Useful

Jody is an Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor and is currently completing Fractional CFO Advisor certification. The immediate focus includes bookkeeping support, while the planned advisory service would broaden the practice’s ability to help owners assess financial challenges and align information with business goals.

A central theme in Jody’s professional description is the desire to help business owners see clearly where they stand. That starts with organized financial information, but it also involves considering what the information means for priorities, risks and future choices. The goal is not simply to maintain records; it is to make the financial status of a business easier to understand and more relevant to decision-making.

This emphasis complements Jody’s project management background. A project plan can lose value when assumptions are unclear, risks are overlooked or progress is difficult to measure. Financial information presents a related challenge: it must be organized and interpreted in context before it can guide action. Attention to detail and risk mitigation therefore remain important across both areas of the practice.

A Flexible Approach to Business Needs

Jody is interested in connecting with small and medium-sized businesses seeking financial or project assistance. The intended approach begins with learning about a company’s needs rather than prescribing a fixed role in advance. Depending on the situation, the most useful contribution might center on a project, bookkeeping processes or a wider financial perspective.

That flexibility is particularly relevant for businesses whose needs do not fit neatly into one job description. An owner may need help bringing order to a specific initiative, improving the consistency of financial records or understanding how current information relates to business objectives. Jody’s practice is designed to remain open to the precise scope of support that will create value for each client.

Adding AI Awareness to the Toolkit

Jody also brings familiarity with artificial intelligence to this next stage of consulting. AI is not presented as a substitute for sound project or financial practices. Instead, that knowledge adds another perspective when businesses are considering how evolving tools may fit into their work.

The common thread across the expanding practice is practical clarity. Whether the task involves coordinating a project, organizing bookkeeping or preparing to provide CFO-level financial guidance, Jody is carrying forward the discipline developed through corporate IT work. The setting may be changing, but the underlying purpose remains consistent: understand the challenge, reduce uncertainty and help a business move ahead with a clearer view of its position.
