Jennifer Wile

While at the University of Calgary, I received a BSc in Biological Sciences, which ranged from pathology to virology, and organic chemistry to biochemistry. While working on this degree, I also found a passion for philosophy and received a BA in philosophy. After a difficult job market I applied for the medical radiologic technologist program at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and became an x-ray technologist. While doing this, I have also been writing a book series, and have started the process of finding a literary agent and building a social media platform. Photography is also a passion of mine, and I will often take photos for people, or organizations, who just need a boost, for no cost, just to help them out and because I enjoy it. One of the awards I have received, that I am most proud of, is the Gold Level Duke of Edinburgh Award, which required me to take part in several qualifying factors, including a cultural exchange and a trip with people I just met. The award was then given in person by Prince Phillip. For Volunteering, I have been a Girl Guide leader, and while I was in this, I met a wonderful family who also run Haunted Calgary. Which started out as a home haunt to raise money for the local food bank and animal shelters has since grown into other events, and I will act as a scare actor and write original stories for them. For a few years I have also volunteered for the Airdrie Pro Rodeo, where I have been learning what it takes to run an event like this, helping to set up and taking photos for them. I also became a member of the Friends of Sable Island board to help promote their wonderful environmental cause of preserving this natural wonder, the amazing history, and the wild horses that call it home.
