Sandy's professional journey commenced as a police officer in Alexandria, Virginia, where she served for an impressive 23 years. During this time, she wore various hats, including a remarkable 10-year tenure as a hostage negotiator. Her commitment to public service extended to her role as a certified instructor with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and a valuable member of the training faculty of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance. Retiring from law enforcement in 2012, Sandy continued her dedication to education. She ventured into teaching criminal justice to high school students, authored books, and emerged as a sought-after trainer for law enforcement agents across the country. Her training expertise covers critical areas such as sexual violence, crisis intervention, and hostage negotiations.
