Originally from Jacksonville, AL, Wendy began her military career in 1988 when she enlisted in the U.S. Army. Over the course of approximately 22 years, she demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership, ultimately retiring as a First Sergeant. As a First Sergeant, Wendy served as the senior enlisted advisor of her unit, taking on critical responsibilities such as soldier development, logistical management, and disciplinary actions. Her outstanding performance and exemplary service earned her the prestigious title of Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year, recognizing her exceptional leadership and technical expertise. Notably, Wendy had the distinct honor of serving as the Military Ambassador for Fort Sam Houston, TX, where she promoted the military's commitment and relationship with the local communities surrounding the installation. Her dedication and impact led to her membership in the esteemed Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, an organization that recognizes NCOs who exemplify leadership and genuine concern for the welfare of soldiers and their families. After her distinguished career in the Army, Wendy transitioned to a role as a Disaster Management Planner for the District of Columbia Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS). In this position, she played a crucial role in integrating emergency management, health, and medical systems to respond effectively to mass casualty incidents caused by various hazards. Continuing her commitment to public service, Wendy took an oath to serve as a Department of the Army (DA) Civilian and became an investigator. Over approximately 14 years, her exceptional performance led her to become the first black, former enlisted, female Branch Chief of the Whistleblower Investigations and Oversight Branch within the U.S. Army Inspector General Agency. In February 2023, Wendy decided to embark on a new chapter in her life, resigning from the U.S. Army Inspector General Agency to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams.
