Sangeeta Bahri

Ever since I got into trouble for helping a classmate during our math exam in kindergarten, I have known that I love helping others and mathematics. Studying comp sci in university and becoming a software professional enabled me to build a career around that. My personal mission throughout my career has been to leverage my skills to use technology for solving real-world problems and tangibly help people. Looking back on my journey, I feel fortunate that I have been able to stay true to my mission. Working in domains like e-Learning, e-Commerce, telecom, mobile apps, and SAAS enabled me to make education, communication, financial, and legal services easily accessible at scale. Seeing the positive impact it had on people's lives has been highly fulfilling. But I wanted to do more. That's when I started a non-profit organization to help computer science students from underprivileged backgrounds. I provided them with the mentorship and hands-on work experience they needed to break into the industry. It was a joy to watch them grow and learn, and my proudest moment came when one of my mentees from Sri Lanka let me know that no one in their village had ever earned the salary they were offered by a company that hired them upon completion of the mentorship program. This student was so inspired that they became a mentor and is now helping other underprivileged students. I am very proud that all students I mentored are similarly off to great starts in their career paths. Going forward, my journey remains one of continuous learning and growth with purpose. I remain active in my non-profit while I look for an opportunity to grow with an organization as a consultant or an FTE that shares my mission of using technology to solve problems and help others. I know I have so much more to give, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me.
