Jenna Dunlop PhD, MBA

Jenna is a writer, educator, public speaker, and scientist. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Toronto with a double major in Psychology and Anthropology, followed this with a PhD in Evolutionary Biology (Zoology) and an MBA, both from York University. Jenna’s passion is making science and technology understandable and accessible to anyone who has an interest. She started her career writing and editing high school science and math textbooks and teaching Natural Science and Biology courses at York University and George Brown College. She then pivoted to make a difference in key environment and energy issues, specializing in climate change policy. In this focus area she developed Durham Region’s Climate Change Strategy, followed by a decade in the Canadian oil sands as Manager of Climate Change Policy and Manager of Environmental Policy at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and Director of Land at Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA). Jenna left the corporate world to return to writing, editing, and educating full time. Her focus has been writing, editing and plain language/science translation for a diverse range of health and wellness organizations including Herstasis health (focused on Women’s health and menopause), the Canadian Energy Research Institute, the Oil Sands Monitoring Program, and the Canadian Mountain Network. She also uses her skills and passion for educating to develop online and in person courses and curricula across a broad range of topics, including energy and the energy transition, science writing for English speaking and ESL students, and climate change mitigation and adaptation workshops for municipalities.
