The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Srividya Kotapati

Srividya Kotapati, Pharm.D. is an internationally recognized pharmaceutical executive, medical affairs strategist, and healthcare innovation leader with more than 25 years of experience driving global drug development, medical strategy, and evidence generation across oncology and other therapeutic areas. Throughout her distinguished career, she has played a pivotal role in advancing groundbreaking therapies from clinical development through regulatory approval and commercialization, contributing to more than 50 global product indications while helping shape the future of precision medicine, artificial intelligence, and real-world evidence in oncology.
Dr. Kotapati currently serves as Medical Head, Lung, U.S. Medical Affairs, Oncology at AstraZeneca, where she provides strategic leadership for the company’s lung cancer portfolio, including innovative antibody-drug conjugates, immunotherapies, targeted therapies, and emerging bispecific agents. She leads multidisciplinary medical teams responsible for scientific strategy, evidence generation, Phase IV clinical research, medical communications, and cross-functional collaboration across U.S. and global medical affairs. Her leadership also extends to advancing artificial intelligence-driven computational pathology, radiomics, biomarker development, and digital innovation initiatives designed to accelerate precision oncology and improve patient outcomes.
Prior to joining AstraZeneca, Dr. Kotapati spent more than 18 years with Bristol Myers Squibb, where she held progressively senior leadership positions across Worldwide Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Medical Innovation, and Oncology Strategy. As Senior Director of Worldwide Medical Affairs, she established and led innovative global programs integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, radiomics, and predictive modeling into oncology drug development. Her work significantly advanced medical strategies for melanoma, lung, breast, prostate, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies while supporting regulatory submissions, product launches, and collaborations with leading academic institutions worldwide. Earlier in her career, she led global HEOR initiatives supporting the successful launches of transformative immuno-oncology therapies, including Yervoy®, Opdivo®, and combination immunotherapy regimens that have reshaped cancer treatment.
Before entering the biopharmaceutical industry, Dr. Kotapati built a strong clinical and academic foundation through leadership roles with the Massachusetts Medicaid Program, Hartford Hospital, and the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. Her experience spans clinical pharmacy practice, pharmacoeconomics, formulary management, infectious diseases, health policy, and academic instruction, providing her with a uniquely comprehensive perspective on healthcare delivery, value-based medicine, and patient-centered innovation.
Widely recognized as a thought leader, Dr. Kotapati has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and numerous scientific abstracts, presentations, and conference posters in leading journals and at international scientific meetings, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), and the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC). Her research has advanced the application of health economics, quality-of-life assessment, real-world evidence, biomarker development, pharmacoeconomics, and artificial intelligence in oncology drug development and clinical decision-making.
Dr. Kotapati earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy after graduating as valedictorian with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Kakatiya University in India, where she received multiple gold medals for academic excellence and was named Best Outgoing Student. She completed an ACCP-recognized Pharmacoeconomic Fellowship and an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at Hartford Hospital and has continued to strengthen her leadership through executive development programs in medical affairs, research and development, and executive coaching.
Her exceptional contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including AstraZeneca’s Oscar Award for leading an unprecedented scientific exchange program at the World Conference on Lung Cancer, the Best Poster Award at the 2023 European Lung Cancer Congress for pioneering work in AI-driven radiomics, Bristol Myers Squibb Triumph Awards, Galaxy Awards, Ovation Awards, and multiple leadership and innovation recognitions throughout her career.
A licensed pharmacist in Massachusetts and Connecticut, Dr. Kotapati is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). Passionate about advancing innovation in medicine, mentoring future healthcare leaders, and improving patient outcomes worldwide, she continues to bridge science, technology, clinical research, and strategic leadership to accelerate the development of life-changing therapies and transform the future of oncology.
