Nina, based in Vancouver, Canada, is a seasoned professional whose career spans nonprofit leadership, private enterprise, federal public service, journalism, and the creative arts. With a strong track record in advocacy, administration, and storytelling, she has devoted her work to advancing women’s rights, organizational effectiveness, and public awareness.

Nonprofit Leadership

Nina has served on the Executive Board of Women in Film & Television Vancouver, where she volunteered on nearly every committee, helping strengthen representation and opportunities for women in the entertainment industry. At the Vancouver Women’s Health Collective, she applied her technical skills as a Database Coordinator to improve community health services. She also spearheaded a committee for the December 9 Coalition, successfully leading a human rights complaint against Statistics Canada—demonstrating her commitment to systemic change and accountability.

Private Sector Experience

Her private-sector career includes diverse roles in retail, printing, and law. At Video Station, Nina developed strong customer service foundations. At ASAP Printing, she specialized in litigation photocopying and graphic design, combining precision with creativity. Later, as Office Manager and Legal Secretary at Mount Pleasant Law Office, she provided critical support in a fast-paced legal environment.

Public Service Career

Over her extensive federal career, Nina served in a variety of capacities across multiple government departments, earning recognition for her excellence and innovation:

  • Revenue Canada – Administrative Clerk
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police – Forms & Workflow Analyst (streamlined national RCMP forms)
  • Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) – Accommodations, Security & Emergency Preparedness Officer
  • Industry Canada – Accommodations, Security & Emergency Preparedness Officer
  • Immigration and Refugee Board – Supervisor, Reception, Mailroom & Operational Records
  • Service Canada – Administration Officer
  • Transport Canada – Real Property & Contracts Officer

For her outstanding contributions, she received the Regional Director General Circle of Excellence Award at INAC.

Writing & Publications

Nina’s career also reflects a deep commitment to journalism and communications. She was News Editor, Writer, and Photographer for Angles LGB Newspaper (1991–1992), covering both news and arts. Her freelance work has appeared in Girlfriends Magazine and the Vancouver Sun. Within government, she produced numerous reports and internal publications for the RCMP, Industry Canada, and INAC.

Advocacy in Retirement

In retirement, Nina has remained a fierce defender of women’s rights. She has represented and defended the legal category of “woman” at the Federal Human Rights Commission, Federal Court, and currently before the Supreme Court of Canada, with proceedings anticipated at the World Court.

Creative Work

Nina is also an artist and storyteller, now developing both a documentary film and a memoir, drawing on her multifaceted career and lifelong dedication to equity and justice.
